Getting in the Christmas Spirit 5: A Tiny Control Panel

I added a tiny, self-contained control panel to the layout, using another Dave Meek idea. I purchased an inexpensive Pulse Width Modulation (PMW) speed controller for about 8 bucks from Amazon, and also picked up a $10 laptop-computer-style power supply. The PMW unit is mounted in a recess in the front of the layout, with a socket to plug in the power supply.

Installation was super simple. There are a pair of inputs for power from the power supply, and a pair of outputs to the track. The reversing switch is pre-wired.

I plan to add Christmas lights to the cabin, which will be wired in parallel to the same power supply. When I'm done, the faceplate will be secured with a couple of screws.
