Building the Canyon 11: Water

I poured Woodland Scenics Realistic Water, tinted with a few drops of brown acrylic paint, into the creek bed tonight. We'll see how it looks in the morning, but for now I'm feeling pretty good. I wasn't sure about the color, but I think the brown does a pretty good job of representing the look of local creeks.

Lower level

Upstream

My one concern is that too much of the water from the upper level will drain to the lower level before it sets up. We'll see how that goes.

I'll use Woodland Scenics Water Effects and some white paint to add some whitewater to this little waterfall.

3/7/25: About 18 hours after the pour. It's hard to tell from the picture, but if you compare this to the "upstream" shot, the water level has dropped, and the water has gone milky in places. This is pretty typical with this product. The cloudiness should clear up as it fully cures, over a few days to a week.

I'll give the initial pour a few days to dry, then use Water Effects, which is a thicker product, to build up the waterfall, and in the process create a dam to keep water from flowing from the upper level to the lower level. Then I'll do a second, thin pour on the upper end.
